Chhau dance,The semi classical Indian dance
Having its origin from the eastern states of India mainly Jharkhand, West Bengal and Odisha.Chhau dance is found in three different styles named after their regions. The Chhau from Odisha is known as Mayurbhanj Chhau, From Bengal it’s known Purulia Chhau and from Jharkhand it is known as Seraikella Chhau.

As I wrote earlier also that this dance basically has its origin from 3 different states having three different styles.The ranges of this dance varies from celebrating martial arts,acrobatics and athletics which are performed in festive themes of folk dance.The Chhau dancers enact the stories of Indian literature like Ramayana, Mahabharata and Purans.
Traditionally this dance is performed by male troupes particularly celebrated in the spring season every year.This dance form is emerged from the fusion of Hindu classical dances and regional tribal dances.
